                                PART I
1.1 Introduction
A Million Dollars Dream is a novel by Alberthiene Endah published by Gramedia Pustkata Utama in 2011. R.r Alberthiene Endah Kusuma Wardhani Hilaul-Sutoyo (born September 16, 1970), better know as Alberthiene Endah, is an Indonesian writter and Journalist. She is famouse for her biographies abou political figures, conglomerates, and Indonesian entertainment, such as Jokowi, Tahir, Probosutedjo, Krisdayanti, and Chrisye. She is describe as " the most request biographer in Indonesian".
A Milion Dollars Dreams it's tells the true story of a woman namely Merry Riana who made her first million dollars im Singapure at the age of 26. She is a girl who very close to her family but she was born into a simple family.

1.2 Summary of Each chapter

Chapter 1: Tantangan Mengejutkan
The story in this book begins in 1998, when the monetary crisis rocked the Asian economy.  At that time, Merry had just graduated from high school and had a dream to study Electrical Engineering at Trisakti University.
But Merry's dream to study at Trisakti University was shattered because Merry's parents were forced to send Merry to Singapore and continue her studies there because at the time of the 1998 tragedy. So, her family didn't have much choice but to send Merry to Singapore.
Singapore was chosen because of the consideration of low costs with the help of scholarships and loan assistance from the Development Bank of Singapore and its close distance from Indonesia.

Chapter 2:  Dihadang Kesulitan 
tells how Merry Riana survives at the beginning of entering the University because she realizes that the money she has doesn't mean much there, by making survival strategies.Merry Riana had to go through her early life at the NTU campus with full of struggles.  Not only once did he have to desperately survive on very simple food.  A mediocre financial condition must survive in various ways. However, the economic difficulties made Merry grow up as a strong woman.  Merry believes that seeing the truth of every human being has extraordinary endurance, which will emerge when life's difficulties confront her. 

Chapter 3: Perjuangan-Perjuangan Awal
Tells about the meeting of Merry Riana and Alva Tjenderasa at a church. Merry also found positive energy when she met Alva Tjenderasa, a student majoring in Mechanical Engineering who can become a friend, business partner and later her husband. Merry's meeting with Alva at a church was through discussion.  with Alva finally Merry started to think about Merry's job doing her first job as a brochure distributor with the risks.
Alva is a person who likes to read books, has a calm mind and always supports Merry.  Alva always encourages Merry not to give up easily and remains enthusiastic in the face of failure.

Chapter 4: Merealalisasikan Resolusi
tells that Merry has set a resolution, namely that he must have financial freedom before his 30th birthday and then Merry works hard again to achieve that resolution.
The first job also brought Merry together with Mr.Kenny, the owner of a laundry business.  The monetary crisis that occurred actually gave Mr.Kenny many opportunities to open new business models.  It taught Merry that even in difficult conditions, we can still get opportunities as long as we are observant of the situation.

Chapter 5: Keputusan Ekstrim
In this chapter, Merry wants to be more successful by collecting money from his previous work, there are several hundred dollars.  Armed with the spirit of capital, Merry decided to become an entrepreneur, even though his first attempt failed.  Merry's failure did not make him fall, even she continued to be enthusiastic and had to move forward. In semester 6 of 2001, Merry received an internship at Micron, a semi-conductor company.  The experience of working as an intern formed a new mindset in his mind.  She thought that becoming an employee was not the path of his million-dollar dream.

Chapter 6: Pertemuan dengan Anthony Robbins.
tells of Merry's meeting with Anthony Robbins at a seminar that Merry deliberately attended with Alva.
He and Alva then spent a lot of money just to attend the Anthony Robbins seminar.  The figure of Anthony Robbins is a figure who inspires Merry a lot to keep dreaming. 

What's more, Anthony Robbins had also started his career as a lowly employee, but now he has become a world-class motivator who is highly respected.  Their similar background makes Merry more confident to continue pursuing his dream through the entrepreneurial world.

Chapter7:  Memburu Peluang
tells how Merry's busy schedule with her final project uses her spare time to practice starting her first business printing T-shirts and theses and becoming a distributor of Tianshi products even though both failed.  Merry partnered with Alva, and in the end they graduated with Second Upper Honour.

Chapter 8:  Pintupun Terbuka
Merry and Alva were still able to finish college with very satisfactory grades.  After graduating from college and getting engaged to Alva, Merry still has a debt of 40,000 Singapore dollars.  Finally Merry decided to work as a sales force in a financial services company. Merry and Alva became entrepreneurs after graduating from NTU by becoming Prudential sales after previously they both decided to get engaged and asked their parents' blessing.

Chapter 9: 1001 Penolakan
tells how Merry and Alva's struggle to overcome difficult times while working in the insurance and financial products sector with all the challenges and obstacles.  Merry used to stand near MRT stations and bus stops to offer insurance.  In fact, he worked from morning to night only resting at lunch and in the evening.  Merry does not want to spend her youth to have fun if he will only face difficulties in her old age. Finally, Merry managed to achieve the target of reaching the manager level in early 2004.

Chapter 10:  Jawaban Indah itu Ada
tells of Merry's great achievements at the end of 2003 after reaching the target of 100 thousand dollars, by maintaining a pattern of hard work and the story of Merry who was finally able to pay off her debts and make her parents happy.  And finally Merry became the President of the Star Club.

Chapter 11:  Meraih 1 Juta Dollar
tells how Merry managed to reach 1 million Singapore dollars and Merry then formed his own financial consulting organization.  And the story of Merry who finally married Alva and Merry won many awards. 

Chapter 12: Jurus -Jurus Sukses
In this chapter Merry shares about the successful moves that Merry got when Merry started his struggles until Merry finally succeeded.  According to Merry, success requires conditions within us such as hard work, commitment, sincerity, persistence, determination.  Merry also emphasized that you should never be afraid to fail because failure is the hallmark of a successful journey.

Chapter 13: Berbagi Untuk Indonesiaku
In this chapter, Merry tells of Merry when she returned to Indonesia and her first seminar in Indonesia.  And the story of Merry who felt his soul was called and made a big decision to make a positive impact on at least 1 million people in Asia, before turning 40 years old.

2.1 Evaluation/ Analisis.

• What does the book promise to deliver to the reader? Another way to look at it is, what problem does this book promise to solve?
The author wrote this book based on the true story of Merry Riana at that time in 1998 when the monetary crisis made Merry forced to study in Singapore.  The author also tells how Merry's life after being a student there and the struggles that Merry did there.  From business work, the failure that made Merry have a forest of 40 thousand Singapore dollars in one, thanks to his persistence and hard work he was able to pay off his debt.  At the age of 26 years Merry he managed to get 1 million dollars.

• What makes this author uniquely qualified to write on this topic?
I didn't find the exact reason, but it can be seen that the author of the million dollar dream book, Alberthiene Endah, is a writer who is very skilled in the subject of biography until now she has written more than 52 books.

• What is the tone of the book? Is it humorous and easy to relate to, or is it more dry and academic?
This book uses language that is easy for the mind to digest and easy to understand. 

Overall impression: This is where you give your personal take on the book.

•Was the book written in a way that you as a reader could easily relate to?
I think it's easy to understand because the written words are not difficult for the mind to digest, but there are some sentences that are difficult to interpret and need interpretation.

• What was your favorite part of the book?
there is a quote in the book that is my favorite because it describes my current situation.
"Serahkan segalanya pada Tuhan, dan Dia akan memberikan jalan padamu. Yakinlah bah wa semua akan indah pada waktu-Nya. Dia akan menunjukkan jalan selangkah demi selangkah menuju kebaikanmu."  "Di dalam hidup ini, kita tidak bisa berharap segala yang kita dambakan bisa diraih dalam sekejap. Lakukan saja perjuangan dan terus berdoa, maka Tuhan akan menunjukkan jalan selangkah demi selangkah,"

maybe this book is too long.

•If you could change something, what would it be?
I think there is nothing to change.

• Are there photos or illustrations? If so, are they effective in enhancing the book's message?
There are no illustrations, but in each chapter there are sentences written using capital letters which are the core of the discussion in each chapter.

2.2 Conclusion

Would you recommend this book?
I think yes, especially if it's your first time reading a biography novel because it can change someone about a biography novel.  and this book is full of meaning and beautiful writing. 

What type of reader would enjoy this book? 
the type of reader who likes to know about life stories.  This book is suitable for college students because there are struggles and obstacles that must be faced.
